O.C. Spray (Oleoresin Capsicum)
This training is suitable for both Law Enforcement and Private Citizens. There will be a further description of the O.C. spray, the physiological and psychological effects on humans, and force continuum.
Should I experience O.C. spray and its effects? ( Oleoresin Capsicum derived from Cayenne Peppers)
When organizations have called me about the O.C.A.T. or O.C. certification this question always comes up. VR Progressive Firearms Instruction, LLC does not force or require participants to be sprayed with O.C. during our course certification. We recommend offer, and are prepared to apply the practical application of O.C. Operators should experience the effects for many reasons:
- Can I control myself under the effects of O.C.?
- Can I remain in control of my equipment and firearm?
- Will I be able to maintain control over my subject if we both are contaminated in a confined area?
- Will I be able to justify and explain that I have felt the effects of O.C. spray?
- When I say to my subject I know how you feel I will help you, I will not be lying.
- I will understand the risks and feelings associated with positional asphyxia.
- I will understand the mindset and physical position of my subject.
The final decision to experience the effects of O.C. will be the decision of the operator, but I foresee more benefits to the experience than just saying I do not want to be uncomfortable for 20 minutes or saying that I will never have to worry, I am that good. If you have any more questions about the O.C. certification, questions about setting up your own test spray, or you as a certified operator want to join a course of spray V.R. Progressive Firearms Instruction, LLC is conducting please contact us or call Les at 860-205-5213.
Thank you V.R. Progressive Firearms Instruction
